libgconf2.0-cil libgconf2-4 gwenview kipi-plugins. They of course also

So again I tried to login to get the logs: The KDE login screen where
the icons appear when stuff is loaded is OK, nice correct size screen &
resolution and everything, but when that screen disappears, is the
screen size shifted and colors lost. So actually attaching xorg.log

One log more: I added the resolution information (1024x768) in the
xorg.conf and restarted KDM, using now the new ati drivers. It
recognizes the resolution correctly (1024x768) but then shows '(II)

localized version and starts - the only string one sees on the desktop

What I found out was that ffmpeg from default repos doesn't have amr
encodec in it, but by installing it form medibuntu you get the amr
support and audio works. But as you already knew, in some countries this
might be illegal. Hate those licensing issues..

I made a quick try with Jaunty live CD, xorg.log included. I guess nothing too
interesting there.
I have to give the intrepid installation hard drive for Windows :( a while so
let's see when I can do some more testing, if required.

Clean Kubuntu 8.10 install from the alternate cd.
First start: When KDM starts, I can see the cursor nice & clear but
other than that I'd say there's a sync problem or something. Since I'm
able to see the cursor it's something else..?

fixes the problem!
Now I'm running Hardy w. KDE 4, I'll try Jaunty soon with this fix.

Actually I tried Ubuntu Hardy Desktop live w. 9200SE, display connected
to DVI, an oldish Apple Studio monitor and I couldn't see anything, just
flickering and stuff.

won't open.
In a way I wonder why do I have xcreensaver installed.. Can't remeber if I
installed some xscreensaver-savers to ksreensaver-package or something..
