I also noticed that the log files do not contain the actual error that I
get on the command line. Both the above mentioned commands give the same
error. So, here is the error:

I have tried that too as it was mentioned in the askubuntu answers. I
have even tried to mute one of the capture Front Left/Right and tried to
keep the other at maximum. I am still unable to record any audio.
If the problem is with the values, is there some way to force alsa and
pulseaudio to rech
I no longer get this error. I am using 11.10 beta 1. I have set my
timezone to Asia/Kolkata. Now, I can log into wiki.ubuntu.com without
getting this error. It seems that the wiki was updated to a new version
of moin moin.

Sorry I missed the January comment earlier.
As per Charlie Kravetz's request, I set my TimeZone to 'Asia/Kolkata'
and I have tried to login to wiki.ubuntu.com again. I still get the same
error. The only way to fix this issue is to upgrade to newer version of
Moin Moin wiki.
