Trying to boot the Alpha4 alt iso in VirtualBox on WinXP host.
kernel panics normal as mentioned above, but if I edit the kernel
options with vga=769 (and other values) it does not panic although the

This is very common if you compile anything against the kernel yourself.
The updated AppleSMC package in the mactel-support repo is provided so
that you have a fixed before it may be available in the standard Ubuntu
repos. The changes made were submitted upstream and then included in the
Linux kern

are several paramters that can be set on a Mac and will survive a reboot
and even between OS X and Ubuntu (the iSight firmware loading is one). I
think that maybe Ubuntu is setting something incorrectly, and then it

Eric, one thing to consider is that, I think when using ndiswrapper,
your card is only capable of 802.11g connections while the ath9k driver
is capable of 802.11n connections. (which may be where the issue is).
Can you try restricting the router to g connections?

I think someone in the forum mentioned that hal was not loading before
xorg or something which cause xorg to not see the hardware properly. I

No, it seems to manifest itself when you actually do the partitioni

key, and 'NumLock' should be mapped to 'clear'. This is, of course, on
the full keyboards... If you are talking about the Macbook keyboards, or
the wireless aluminum, then those keys may not exist there either.

I would say that this patch and associated "feature request" be put into
another bug report since this bug is really about getting the fdi file
to work at all, not modifying the touchpad driver to add/remove
functionality.

Great! I thought this might affect the MacBookPro4,1 as well. It is
probably likely that it affects the MacBook(Pro)5.x models as well since
they use the same touchpad driver.

are we supposed to be using isight-firmware-tools still? From what I can
tell, the Ubuntu version of OFT does not have the ift-load binary
anymore so we cannot even attempt to load the firmware manually... Is
this supposed to be loaded in kernelspace again?
