Where "jupiter" is your hostname should be... If the IP address is

1) Could you please post the contents of /proc/asound/card0/codec
2) Also if you could log out of your gnome/kde/xfce and drop to a text console
and issue the command 'sudo /
Also, someone mentioned that doing a 'sudo modprobe -r' on your snd*
modules and then reload it with 'sudo modprobe snd-hda-intel' that might
help...

not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you
are facing, but
I asked someone from the bugteam to look at this issue and they decided
it would be best left as a bug... The reason why I originally converted
to a question was because I thought that it seemed like a configuration
issue (in which the support community could have helped in more
detail)...

so we can find the correct team and to provide them with enough
information.

It appears as VLC is responsible for crashing firefox... I have confirmed
this on my own system...
