I expect: menu to always appear on top of other windows.
What happens: About ~50% of the time the menu appears behind other open
windows, seemingly at random.
I think this started happening after updating to mate-menu 5.7.0-1. If I
change the value of the type_hint proper

Sorry I should add the pulseaudio tests I performed were simply using
the physical volume control and testing the output via the gnome-
control-center => sound mixer

Thanks for the info! I have already tried that as well. This does turn
on the glowing red "beats" light on the lower right hand side, but no
sound output.

Nothing works, neither the Cinnamon sounds manager or any other media players.
