I find this bug was fixed on 23/4/2010, but I have just been bitten again on
26/11/2010 using a fully updated Lucid LTS.
I know I can work round this using the command line, but ...
I need educating on the process by which bugs are fed back and fixed in Ubuntu
releases, especially in LTS releases

but appears to be an Xorg problem.

I'm having the same type of problems with nedit in Ubuntu 10.04 AMD64.
Nedit works OK at first, then starts to malfunction - as you say, at
inopportune times!
Copy-paste by highlighting and middle-mouse click, or by menu, starts failing
to work within the same window.
Meanwhile, copy-pasting from
OK it has just happened again.
At least I can correct the previous comment - the mouse pointer was trapped in
the tabs area, not the menu bar.

Important here to note that rsh-redone-client does not provide rcp, whereas
rsh-client does.
So the working combination is rsh-redone-server with rsh-client.
Anything else doesn't fully work with rhosts.
