You can also use the nvidia-glx package (instead of nvidia-glx-new), but
to make it works, the file /lib/linux-restricted-
modules/.nvidia_new_installed needs to be removed and the system need to
be booted.

Random desktop freeze with nvidia-glx-new 100.14.19
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/156
I managed to use "downgrade" to nvidia-glx driver. The problem seems to
be on the package that fails to remove the control file /lib/linux-
restricted-modules/.nvidia_new_installed
This file is checked by lrm-video script to see if it needs to load
nvidia or nvidia_new
Just by installing nvidia-g
I already said that there's an alternative to keep a contrib like repo
where I can update the linux-restricted-modules package to include the
last version, which is running on my laptop without lockups for more
than a month by now.
I just need a place to put the .deb files.

Hello,
r8169 driver is loaded before root filesystem is mounted, so, to
blacklist it, after addind it to a blacklist file under /etc/modprobe.d
you need to issue the following command:
sudo update-initramfs -c -k all
then reboot... it should work fine after that!
--
r8169 driver does not work
I have managed to generate a new deb version using the 169.07 driver.
I don't have a place to put the files, so I'll try to upload them to here. If I
cannot do it and someone have a place where I can put these files, everybody
will be glad.

Random NVidia Proprietary Driver Lock-Ups with dual
As you can see, I was unable to upload.
I need a place to put the files if people want to use them.
Two notes:
1) -xen flavor didn't compile and I didn't try to find the problem, so no -xen
support
2) I was able only to compile i386 version. When trying to compile x86_64
version on my i386 arch
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: eiciel
When Eiciel is installed, it adds a "Access Control List" tab to Nautilus
Properties window.
With this tab, the "Permitions" tab is obsolete and should not be shown, as it
may confuse users.
** Affects: eiciel (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Actually it seems the process that gets hungry on resources is
pulseaudio.

** Description changed:
Binary package hint: gparted
Running from a live cd image of ubuntu 9.04 through virtual box.
When trying to shrink a partition (on a virtual box HDD) I got a message
saying the e2fsck should be run on the affected partition. It was run and
finished without error
The problem resides in virtual machines with some kind of broken
consoles (or not correctly handled ones).
I narrowed down the problem to the the following command that is run on
setupcon:
setfont -C /dev/tty1 /etc/console-setup/Lat15-VGA16.psf.gz -m /etc
/console-setup/cached_ISO-8859-1.acm.gz
Reproduced today on MAAS 2.5 latest bionic
It is not reproduced if switch from ga-18.04 kernel to ga--18.04-low-
latency kernel.
