Sorry should have replied earlier. This error was caused by a cooked
network card. It overheated because the laptop didn't shut down
properly.

I am still getting this problem. It stops for a while after a reboot,
but this is hardly a solution.
It is making ubuntu unusable for me and, from the sound of it, for
others.
I have now completely re-installed ubuntu 7.04, which caused endless
problems in itself with corruption in the apt list f

feisty. Will reinstall firefox as Rebecca suggested. Perhaps this should
be in the wiki? This is affecting other apps too, such as kontact.

I have the latest version of Feisty Fawn with Kubuntu (kde 3.5.6, qt
3.3.7) and I get no switch menu at all i.e. start menu has no start new
session option. Lock user gives me no option to start new session
either.
My wife and I have to log one another out before starting a new session.

It is a mini PCI card, which is why it's so annoying that I have to do
this every time ubuntu crashes. It requires unscrewing the bottom panel
of the laptop and removing the card. Then I have to reboot without the

It is still broken in Feisty. I did a clean install from the latest ISO, did
all the updates. Then it crashed with this error in /var/log/messages:

up, I type in my password, click okay, the adept window pops up and
adept crashes (just after the status bar in adept_manager says "Building
state information").

First you remove and purge calibre
sudo apt-get remove --purge calibre
sudo apt-get remove --purge calibre-bin
This fails to remove the lib folders so you have to do this manually as
root
