Original bug reported too long ago; too many update-manager versions
gone under bridge, can't repeat it now. :-) (Though I am getting a
different problem, being reported, but is probably the fault of my
hardware.) In any case there is no /var/log/dist-upgrade/ on this
system.

Contrary to expectation, it *didn't* fix itself after a logout and

It would seem at first sight to be simpler; but presumably the problem
was that there are bugs in the implementation in the Lucid kernel (and
upstream) that won't necessarily *only* impact vsftpd us

Also presumably disabling it in vsftpd will hurt people who want to use
that in an lxc setting without providing an easily-applied solution.

I performed a fresh install of Natty, release version.

Resolved when I logged out and logged in again; presumably some state
had got itself in a mess. :-) (So I suppose there's no reason why it
can't recur?)
Before that logout/login was also experiencing same with Thunderbird.

I think I've been experiencing this bug on a production vmware guest
server running Lucid with vsftp being connected to frequently by client
machines.
The thing is, this bug shows as being "fix committed" - and the
implication I get from comment #18 is that the current production (ie:

Yes, this one's started bugging me too, since I installed Gentoo on
another partition and keep finding its clock ahead an hour - the reason
seems to be Ubuntu, when I go back to that, changes the bios clock to
match my local time. Would be very nice to turn that off!
