I recommend strongly a clean installation of the final version of Hardy
Heron. Clean and fresh, so with previous formatting of the partition.
In a couple of hours the final version of Hardy will be available for
download..
I expect that you won't see these problems anymore then.
Greetz, Pjotr.
I recommend closure.
All persons who reported this problem on the Dutch Ubuntu forum, prior
to the final release, now report that all is well. The kernel update and
the HAL update of april 22 seem to have repaired this fault.
That was a close call, by the way. Two days before final release

Public bug reported:
At intervals, Firefox 3 beta 5 shows high CPU load (up to 100 % on my
Intel Core 2 Duo machine with 2 GB RAM), coupled with intense hard drive

This lasts a minute or two, then stops. Every 10 minutes or so, it

"loading hardware drivers" [fail] linux kernel generic 2.6.24 -
Problem is solved by the newest updates.
This is the remedy:
- boot with older kernel
- retrieve the latest updates manually (System - Administration - Update

- reboot normally (with the latest kernel): no more problems. :-)

Public bug reported:
A strange phenomenon since a couple of days: Ubuntu often reports a
wrong password in the login screen. Mostly I need three or four attempts
before login is succesful.
I type my password deliberately extra slowly and accurately, so I've
made sure that it's not an error of me.
