I agree with Liam: a .desktop file should be added to /etc/xdg/autostart
with an AutostartCondition.
However I am not sure whether reusing the same configuration key
(/apps/empathy/autoconnect) would be acceptable.

This bug still applies to the web interface of Ubuntu One. Every time I
try to open a contact whose id contains a '/', the web interfaces gets
totally confused and answers with a 404 Error.
Contacts whose ids does not contain a '/' can be consulted normally.

I believe it is an ibus-daemon bug. I had the problem at least in gnome-
terminal, firefox (but not under Unity), thunderbird. I solved it less
brutally than flushing the whole user DConf database by resetting one
key:
dconf reset /org gnome/desktop/interface/gtk-im-module
which contained the val
The fix works for me too.

I didn't have this bug on Karmic and I rapidly skipped Lucid, so I can

It is an environment variable problem: while a 'passwd' process run from
a terminal inherits all environment variables (and among them
GNOME_KEYRING_CONTROL and DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS), the 'passwd'
process run from 'gnome-about-me' is given an empty environment.
