First of all, there is nothing to "recognize", as they are just fake printers,
provided by Qt4 -only- (and not by "Intrepid" as you stated).
Second, we (Okular developers) disabled it on purpouse, as it was giving issues
with the PDF printing. This is also why this is correctly classified (from m
I don't know nor don't care about what Ubuntu provides, but what I see
from the screenshot *is* the Qt4 fake printer, the one that Okular
disables for the PDF printing. If it would be a real printer (like I do
have VPDF here), Okular would see it without a single problem (modulo

This is not a KPDF bug, and not an Okular either, but Poppler's.
KPDF is patched by ubuntu for using the Poppler library (thus totally
unsupported by us), and Okular uses Poppler directly.

Okular cannot currently do anything to print more than one copy at a time when
printing PDF, PS, DjVU, and DVI.
The reason is simple: the Qt printing system is "smart enough" to actually
think that it can use CUPS "copies" feature, so it always exposed the
information that only 1 copy is needed.
Please move this to Poppler.

As the KDE bug says, it's not a memory leak, but KPDF just keeps all the
information about the text in the document.
Large PDFs means more text information, that in turn means more memory needed
