I have exactly the same bug, with these two symptoms: TTYs not working and
blank screen on laptop lid closure (i found the same solution = switch to TTY
and back).
(!) Also, when I re-open before about 2 seconds have passed, the screen is not
blank but all pixellized, with little red art
Same bug occurred again, I suppose this bug can be seen as confirmed.

I just wanted to point out that somebody else seems to have done some good work
