killing apps like amsn helps. In worst cases a X restart is req
I think this bug has a workaround. I'm not sure this will work on 12.04,
for I'm still using 11.10 and it worked there. The idea is to copy
/usr/share/gedit/plugins/latex/tools.xml over
$HOME/.config/gedit/latex/tools.xml using root user priviledges. This
will prevent the local file to be overwritt

It seems that this plugin depends on python-poppler, but this is not
going to be installed along with gedit-latex-plugin. This causes gedit
to fail loading the plugin. Otherwise, if python-poppler is installed
then the plugin loads just fine.

On my machine this issue is strongly correlated with failure of the wifi
connection. When kworker goes nuts the wifi automatically stops working
and "sudo service networking restart" is practically no use.

Maybe this bug is not so hardware-dependend as i originally thought. The
same issued presented itself on a completely different machine. I
presume that I'm not the only one with this bug, and that it'd been

can you disable pulseaudio and see whether the problem still exists? I'm
experiencing a very similar problem

I'm sorry maybe i used the wrong words. With hardware-independency I
mean that the occurence of the bug does not depend on the particular
hardware a machine is mounting (e.g. ati or intel video card). I said
that this problem is somewhat hardware-independent because this bug

I have the same problem on three very different machines using natty.
Therefore i think that this fact should rule out the possibility of an
hardware-dependent bug.

Lately an update for the package "xorg-server-video-intel" has appeared
on the repository. It seems to me that it has solved the problem. I've
been using the aforementioned applications with no crashes during a very

I think the last updated for intel didn't fix everything. I occasionally

I "autospan=no"ed pulseaudio and killed the daemon with pulseaudio -k. I
guess this forces the system to switch to alsa, because sound seems to
be fine system-wide. This procedure seems to have solved the issue, for
the freezing part of the bug described above seems not to occur any

I can provide this additional piece of information: when the screen

can hear Xorg restarting because speakers play the usual "login screen

Situation is becoming dramatic. I get crashes every now and then,

the same. I hope a solution is found as soon as possible, 'cause i
