Robert McMeekin, can you raise a separate bug. In this bug report
please give the output from lspci -v, lsmod and dmesg. Any other
information you have regarding your wireless card would also be useful.

Confirmed. The unionfs mount doesn't actually need to be performed as
part of the initramfs to cause a kernel hang. Issuing the unionfs mount
on an NFS filesystem in the shell caused my system to hang...
A couple of things to clarify:
1. Are both your Dapper and Feisty kernels using the vanilla
Vincenzo & DanaGoyette: you seem to be describing two separate and
different issues here.
DanaGoyette: Your /proc/devices doesn't show " 254 mmc".
This is probably because you have not got "mmc_block" and/or "mmc_core"
loaded.
Try "lsmod | grep mmc"

Viencenzo,
Can you attach the output of both "lspci" and "lspci -nv".
Thanks.

your response, the implication is it wasn't. Correct? You had to
modprobe it yourself?
After modprobe mmc_block I expected to see a "254 mmc" line in
/proc/devices? Is it there?
If so, then after modprobing,

No, there isn't anyway to obtain an oops from the initramfs. However, I
have obtained an oops myself.
The bug is caused by Unionfs calling lookup_one_len() on an NFS mounted
filesystem, see

The fix is to ensure that Unionfs
Hi,
These type of bugs are extremely hard to track down without more
information. I have a couple of further questions.
1. You say the installation process hangs at boot time. Do you mean
here that the liveCD fails to boot to the desktop? Alternatively, does
the liveCD boot to the desktop, but
