I bisected the kernel and was able to bisect the problem to the commit
ee1ca48fae7e575d5e399d4fdcfe0afc1212a64c. After reverting this commit in
2.6.31-15.50, it works fine.

The laptop keyboard works in the single user (in console). In normal
mode the laptop keyboard and the touchpad both do not work in X or in

I haven't noticed that the ordering of the actual menu items change but
the two separators change place. Sometimes they are both at the bottom,
sometimes the other one is between "New Session" and "Logout" and the
other one is at the bottom. This can also be seen in Christop Korns
screenshots. And

Actually, the i8042.nomux parameter is not enough. Sometimes it works,
sometimes it doesn't. The i8042.dumbkbd parameter seems to work better.
I'm having difficulties to properly debug this as the ATA driver also
hangs quite soon after boot.

Actually, on xenU, issuing the commands
ethtool -K eth0 tx off
ethtool -K eth0 tx on
fixes the problem too, so changing the tx offloading back to on doesn't
break it again.
And the real problem here is that xenU keeps sending big packets even
though it gets the fragmentation needed info. I don't
s/destination/target/g in the hand-written tcpdump lookalike in comment
#5 if you're confused :)

No. My system didn't have the "postgres" user before installation. I can
reproduce this problem like this:
apt-get purge --auto-remove postgresql*; deluser postgres; apt-get
install postgresql
The error message is exactly the same. Invoking apt-get -f install
finishes the installation properl

To repeat, this is only a problem in the backported Lucid package. The
problem is that Lucid has too old jQuery. CouchDB ships a newer jQuery
but it's not used but symlinked to the system jQuery instead. The
easiest fix would be to not symlink to the system jQuery, even though
lintian warns about t

Test case:
1. Open the CouchDB web interface in your browser:

2. Open any database by clicking its name (the built-in "_users"

3. Click the "Compact & Cleanup" link near the top of the page.

I asked from the upstream author if this is known issue, and he said
this:
Ubuntu drops privileges, but their config is often not really up
to that. Keep running as root for a test and check if the problem
re-occurs. I guess not.
So I commented out the $PrivDropToUser and $PrivDropToG
It seems that this was partly my mistake, as the permissions of the fifo
file were wrong. But this means that rsyslog opened the fifo before
dropping privileges and was thus able to open it as root. When the HUP
signal is sent, reopening the fifo fails because rsyslog is no longer
run as root.
