Vish, there is indeed an option to specify wallpapers. One only needs to
add the single line of:

Just a note to say, I had this issue on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04 (recently
upgraded from 9.10) and found a solution for my specific case.
I discovered that I had some software installed outside of regular
package management (in this case a BOINC server) which had two scripts:
/usr/local/bin/start and /u
Wow, I thought I was going crazy until I saw this bug. Here is my setup:
Two identical 500G Seagate drives. I sliced each of them up into 3
partitions using the alternative installer.
sda1, sdb2 - 1G - raid1 as md0 for boot
sda2, sdb2 - 5G - swap
sda3, sdb3 - remaining space as prompted - raid1 a
I was able to get raid1 working directly from the install by following
the advice in this thread. Specifically, I manually paritioned my drives
with fdisk, and did not have any raid partition fill up the entire
disk.
