I tried, but I am not sure if I got anything useful. It seems that
rather than crashing every time gnome-shell seems to stay in some weird
state, where everything is just white.
A bit of help needed.

And unfortunately I am having trouble getting the backtrace, as the
breakpoint is met when I put my mouse over the menu and I am unable to
even open the menu.

Public bug reported:
Ok, so the situation is this. Whenever I switch to GDM from LightDM,
user switching seems to cause the first logged in users' gnome-shell to
crash.
ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10
Package: gdm 3.8.4-0ubuntu2
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.11.0-12.19-generic 3.11.
It seems that using GDM causes every gnome-shell session to crash after
selecting "Switch user".

Hi,
Similar issue has been fixed earlier
(https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=666756) it seems that the version
2.34.1 of librsvg had caused problems, but upgrading to 2.35.1 did not.
On my machine, I definately have only "librsvg2-common" installed and
the version indeed is 2.34.1, so
I'll just answer myself, it seems that 12.04 has 2.35.2, so this time
this bug is probably caused by something else.
