Hi, I think, it is kind a confusing to have 2 images viewers/managers.
Always when I need to crop image, I must open shotwell from eog or so.
Problems:
1. Shotwell does not support SVG files
2. I would prefer to move toolbar to top from bottom
3. Fix bug to open PNG in shot

just to display image, not crop and so on in SVG, ...), to have same
interface, buttons can bu just grayed with some tooltip that you cannot

I can confirm this - the sympthoms are the same and sometimes clicking
on the title bar doesn't help. It affects Firefox and Eclipse - in my
case.
