Having changed to the Xorg edgers ppa & upgrading to the 13.2 beta ATI driver this issue appears resolved so this would suggest that when Firefox starts it's doing something that causes interaction with the Graphics driver. I deleted the partition table during the install but I'm not sure it had quite managed to do it correctly. I rebooted, deleted the partition table, rebooted again and then used gparted in "Try Ubuntu" to create the partitions I required. I then ran the install which was successful. -- You receive
