I'm currently experiencing this problem in Kubuntu (9.04) and the 180.44
nvidia driver. This has happened several times. While there are
several user sessions, When I switch from one (A) to the other (B), it
is not uncommon for A to crash while I am using B.

to handle user login and home directories so I decided to log into a

I tried browsing an NFS share using a local user account and this did
not have the problem either.
If the user has an NFS mounted home directory and dolphin is open...
that is what seems to do it for me.

I probably should have put this in the first comment and not just the
subject. The problem is that certain applications like flash and vlc do
not have sound. I've tried checking various mixers to make sure that
nothing is muted and that volume settings are okay.

I used amd64 flashplugin-installer package which downloads and installs
the 64 bit flash from Adobe. Flash isn't the only affected application
however.

Settings.
I now have no sound from the KDE applications either.(Amarok, etc..)

I removed PulseAudio and flash, vlc and mpg123 all seem to work now. It
would appear to me that KDE (in Kubuntu) and PulseAudio don't play well
together in 9.10 RC.
This is probably a duplicate of bug 447844 and/or bug 394999.
I had no problems prior to upgrading to 9.10 RC.

This behaviour still seems to be present in 17.04. I have a secondary
drive (ST3500418AS) that is isn't mounted and should remain asleep. It
doesn't go to sleep unless I force it with "hdparm -Y /dev/sdb". There
is something that happens every 10 minutes that will wake up the drive.

I should add that I tried to upgrade to Plasma 5.3.0 (from ppa:kubuntu-
ppa/backports) to see if that would fix the problem. It didn't. Then I
had to downgrade back to 5.2.2 so that I could file the report against

We've started having IMAP issues with our Exchange server at work. I
don't think our IT group has thought of it yet but it could very likely
related to the fact that we have a large number of Thunderbird users
that have upgraded to this issue.
As Thunderbird user I'm also having similar issues wit
Irving - I tried the "try" build. After thunderbird started it began
indexing 11000+ emails and started downloading from different folders.
I had to exit it before it stabilized because it consumed an extremely
large amount of memory and my system became extremely unresponsive.

I don't know if this is related but kdm logs this to syslog.
