I hit this bug again with a Xubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 upgrade. Seems likely
it is actually caused by the lack of xubuntu-default-settings installed
than nvidia-* packages.

regular release. There should be
1) more information about the regular and LTS releases and the different
upgrade paths
2) some thoughts when it's wise to use the one or the other and finally,
3) cl
One way to make the section more legible for the end-user would be to
split up the section as following:

The default font for UI is Droid Sans 10, and the proposed font for
terminal is Droid Sans Mono 10. As Droid Sans Mono 10 has *better*
readability (see attachment), I can't see no reason why we couldn't use
it as default for the terminal.
