oh damned, i didnt get you use FUSA (fast user switching) this is indeed

that it unmounts the HW but keeps the visible content of the mount on
teh session side persistent ... its totally fine that you see teh
contentin your session as long as you see local unmounting directly on

well, i assume its only part of the breakage, but according to the fix
autologin cant work since LDM_SERVER is never set, this variable is
needed internally (have a look at ldm.c). without it the client tries to
simply connect to nirvana.

dont have a kernel event for loading unloading media, so we cant monitor

hmm, actually reading over what i wrote above seems a bit confusing so
let me rephrase that:
ltsp itself doesnt use gdm anywhere on the thin clients, logging in is
done via ldm which runs on the client.
gnome which runs in the session ldm has spawned *on the server* has some
functions that talk
you need to apply it to the ltsp source package.
install the packaging-guide (will show up in the system help after
installation) to see how to build a patched package.
then install the created ldm binary package in the chroot and run
ltsp-update-image.

the missing desktop links are caused by the fact that KDE doesnt monitor the
contents of /media/. In gnome gnomevfs uses inotify to watch its contents, it

nbdroot with squashfs/unionfs mount so this shouldnt be an issue anymore
for ltsp specifically. i agree that nfs has speed issues though that
should be fixed.

either in ubuntu and it most likely fixes the /dev/fuse ownership problems

did you set the right options to create a netboot initramfs in /etc
/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf and updated the initramfs with update-
initramfs -u ?
