I can say by personal experience that It has not been fixed in Karmic.
Since it isn't clear what causes this problem, the fact that it doesn't
reveal itself for someone on Lucid doesn't necessarily mean that it was
fixed.

I tried to hibernate. The computer seemed to have hibernated
successfully, but when I turned it on again, it did a normal boot, as
though I haven't hibernated.
This was the state for a long time. I tried it to see if it's different

vkeybd has a default keyboard map which isn't very efficient. I wrote another
one. If you put it in "~/.vkeybdmap" it gives you a better keyboard map. I
suggest that it becomes the default one.

I did two relevant things. I don't know which did it.
1. I completely removed qemu and kqemu-source.
2. I added a file /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume with RESUME=UUID=.

I confirm on Jaunty. I installed the printer, and it worked fine. I
tried to print a fax from the computer, and the job stayed in the queue
