In compiz settings manager I enable desktop cube and the result is that
multiple desktop feature doesn't work (I cannot change desktop
workspaces from the taskbar or with key combinations) So I disabled
desktop cube and reenabled desktop wall effect and everything works OK.

The pointer is correctly changed, as you said, but it does reflect only
above specific apps such as firefox (In all other common apps I tested the
problem exists)

So Do I... The UI is very important and if we want Ubuntu to gain more
popularity, problems like this should be fixed urgently. Even that
crappy OS , windows 7, has a nice interface with no bugs. A home user
will appreciate a well-made UI which does not have any problems.

of mine, and now I can see no problems with the menu. I suppose it isn't

I just wanted to make a specific folder sharable and visible on the

Compiz effects(default) do not run well when laun
I already have 12.04 installed with updates till this moment. The issue is not
as severe as it was in previous releases, but still exists.
This lack of smoothness regarding desktop effects , makes ubuntu feel a bit
"heavy" and that's the reason i'm reporting it.

I think that this bug gives a pretty bad impression to the user, so in my
opinion this bug should be marked as of high importance at all of the affected
packages, given that the bug affects unity3d as well.

I also want to report that the effect is not broken all the times.
Strangely, sometimes its ok, sometimes its not. In addition, I notice
that minimize effect is not always smooth (mostly in big sized windows)
and I suppose this situation has to do with the bug. For example, if you

I can confirm that CPU usage drops significally when vsync is disabled. To be
specific:
Vsync enabled: When computer is completely idle compiz cpu usage is 1-2 %
When dragging the terminal window gently compiz cpu
usage is approx. 30-35 %
Vsync disabled: When computer

When dragging a window to the top in order to maximize it it actually shows
two(2) titlebars , the one on the unity panel and the other attached to the
window.SEE ATTACHMENT.
Note that this does not happen all the times
System: Ubuntu 11.10 amd64 alpha all updates install
I changed the status of the bug to "fix released" as with the new
version of Unity the problem does not exist anymore.

I Just installed the above mentioned repos(vanvugt/compiz&Unity) and updated my
system.
This fixed the bug but now a NEW BUG has occured:
~~When grabbing a window and moving it randomly, the pointer does not stay
where it "grubed" the window but goes to another place either inside or outside

Daniel van Vugt, i am pretty sure that this bug occured just after enabling
your repositories , so this should be the bug #923683 as you mentioned.

clicking "SHOW TECHNICAL ITEMS" when searching for them. These packages
are treated as technical items.
