It seems that emails are silently discarded when the remote SMTP server
replies with an error on STARTTLS. Here is an example smtp log created
with NSPR_LOG_MODULES='smtp:5,timestamp':

Since this is triggered by changing an upstart job unrelated to
mountall, I'm reassigning this to upstart.

October 25th. The configuration has not been touched, but the script is
apparently not being called anymore:

I don't know how to make the installer crash, so I cannot test if the
crash is signaled to the user or not.

On systems using the e1000 network driver, the first ipconfig call
always fails as follows:

Public bug reported:
This happens randomly about once a day since upgrading from Lucid to
Maverick. Sometimes it causes the system to freeze, sometimes only a
specific application. In this very instance, it completely froze mplayer
(even though the logs talk about Python).
