On a fresh installation of Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 3, the Kickoff
Application Launcher (the new kmenu) only shows its border when you open
it. The old one still works.
I have not enabled compiz or the kde's native desktop effects, as I did
not install the nvidia driver yet.

turning my speaker off in alsamixer.
