0.5 is way better than 0.4, I also think it should be on Feisty... It is
now decently reliable and more feature-full than the actual torrent
client in Ubuntu : that should be enough for a place in the repos.

I seem to be having the same issue, with empathy 3.3.5, for a week now : msn
account connects properly but I don't see any connected contacts and I don't
appear online.

I solved it actually : during the last xorg-common package update a lot of
unity and compiz packages were remove/reinstalled by apt.
I reinstalled packages "unity" and "gnome-compiz", unity is working properly
again.
