I don't use Intrepid (yet) but I can confirm is still present in
Hardy with the latest updates (kdebase version 4:3.5.10-0ubuntu1~hardy2)

(4:4.1.1-0ubuntu2) from:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/intrepid/amd64/kate/download
and I can confirm that the file
/usr/share/applications/kde4/kate.desktop
still contains an empty path key.

As suggested by Sebastien Bacher, I tried in the terminal:
cd /usr/share/applications/kde
for x in $(grep -xl "^Path=" *.desktop) ; do sudo sed -i
's/^Path=/#Path=/' $x ; done
Then I logged out and back in, and the bug was gone.

Here it happened the same.
In my case, I discovered this bug was triggered by my MSN account
having enabled the option "New mail notifications".
As a workaround, I just disabled it. This solved half of the problem,
because I couldn't change the window width using the mouse. To restore

Somehow, after upgrading from Dapper to Edgy, my laptop started to
report double the previous swap memory. At the same time, I noticed that
under certain circumstances the laptop became very slow and some
applications got stalled. For instance, when running synaptic, sometimes
I'm affected by this bug too. I have checked that the liveCD works with KVM on
the same machine.

The upgrade process stalls after the following message on the terminal:

Previously, it had complained about missing texlive-common.
I've also noticed the software-manager is running and showing some
updates. After clicking on "Instal

I've tracked down the point where the post-installation fails.
It fails in the script /var/lib/dpkg/info/snort.config when line 16
"db_get snort/reverse_order" is run.
To workaorund this failure I have removed the following lines from
script /var/lib/dpkg/info/snort.config:
