More info:
As suspected, this bug does not show on a system installed from the official
8.10 release CD.
It was a problem with the beta release, but more significantly, it did not go
away after upgrading.
So
I also see higher temps reported now. Intel E2180. Before was same as from BIOS.
So these new higher temps are just as valid as the old ones, and we should get
used to them??
Or is there some config change possible to "fix" it.

I don't know why lspci was asked for. Looks like a simple problem with the
lookup table, or software that uses it.

Changing those values does not stop my system crashing. Why does it look like a

After resume from suspend, password is given to unlock screen,
Gnome-screensaver says "checking..." but stuck using all CPU, and screen still
locked.

I have a generic bluetooth mouse with same problem.
I installed bluez-compat so at least "hidd --search" and pressing the pairing
button will get the mouse back.

What is that supposed to do? It toggles the blue 'info' icon in the
device list, but there is no hint as to what that should achieve. I'd

I can install it on Hardy(8.04) with "dpkg --force-conflicts -i ", but the X
server will not load it.
How is it possible to use the old
Rublack, thats the same file.
Sorry about that URL, but if you append the package filename, you get the same
file (same md5sum).
So are you able to use that in Hardy? Any idea how I can avoid the mismatch
error shown above?

That is the 6.6.3 ATI drivers with ubuntu patches, compiled for X.org 1.4.0.90,
ubuntu 8.04. I manually copied ati_drv.so and
radeon_drv.so to /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers , not using the package
management
I'm running an updated 9.10 with 0.22.0+fixes22594-0ubuntu1 and still seeing
this bug on a clean install.
Changed the AVI player to "Internal" in the frontend and can now play AVIs.
What does "fix released" mean when it is still broken? Released to the ubuntu
repository?

click 'cancel' every time.

There is another problem with KMS for me. KMS breaks Xv on intel 855GM video
(as in X40 thinkpad).
The fix for that is to disable KMS in GRUB, and that fixes the backlight on
resume problem too.
