This was my experience as well - upgraded from Lucid and _no_ GSettings
backend was installed, so no prefs were ever saved until I manually
installed libdconf0.

The regression was actually caused by mesa 7.9~git20100909 - reverting
to 7.8.2-2ubuntu2 solved the 2D perf issues - I now get video playback
fine. Reverting ia32-libs to the version generated before
7.9~git20100909 solved the Wine 3D performance.

I stand corrected, but the HTML version of the documentaion is missing
(this was shipped with 1.x). I find the PDF document terribly useless

Yeah, I'm getting the same problem after upgrade. I don't have an
encrypted disk, but whenever I open a subdirectory of my home Nautilus
would crash as per above.
Opening sub-directories that are bookmarked (i.e. appear in the Nautilus
places menu) of ~ causes this crash, but not others. .xsession
Minor additional point: uninstalling ubuntuone-client-gnome fixes this
problem, and these log messages go away.
