Actually, Francisco describes my experience as well - even the -3 kernel
fails to boot sometimes. It is NOT connected to wireless ON or OFF - it
sometimes fails anyway.

I've experienced crashes on this assertion several times with Konqueror 4.1 in
Hardy using the kubuntu-members-kde4 ppa. It happens irregularly when i close
Konqueror (which is not so strange as it's KHTMLFactory's destructor that calls
KHTMLGlobal::finalCheck() which contains the assertion.)

That's nice, but it would be even better if those symlinks was in /boot instead
of (or in addition to) /.
That would be useful when using other bootloaders than grub when /boot is a
separate partit
Setting MESA_NO_ASM stops the crashes for me, I agree that this is a much nicer
work-around but it would be even better if mesa could do runtime-checks as it
does on IA32.
Perhaps mesa's postinst-script could check cpu vendor and add MESA_NO_ASM=1 to
/etc/environment?

My computer is a Dell Optiplex GX620.
I think it had some kind of special "diagnostic" partition on the HDD

You can modify the Device section in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to include:
Driver "vesa"
I think this is the same as booting in "Safe graphics mode", and gives you a
working desktop on Ubuntu.
Unfortunately, this bypasses the Intel driver and the B202 processor
alone is not sufficient to run a smooth TV
I spent a couple of hours on this as well. I'm running with the loop workaround
now.

root for every user. And AFAIK, it's the same with Gnome logout
notification, isn't it?
I want something which a user can setup without root access, and which
is run as that user and only when that user logout (or shutdown).

It seems that it is sufficient for gpgme to know the path of where it should
find gpgconf, just as with the gpg and gpgsm binaries. Simply adding
"--with-gpgconf=/usr/bin/gpgconf" to its configure options makes it work for me.

It could very well be just nvidia. Recent upgrades have apparently

Yes. I can confirm that. I have a fresh install of Jaunty now, and the
wifi is slow to connect after suspend/resume, but normal after login.

Running HP tx2020eo. Identical details to previous. Tablet worked (with

Cannot confirm the above. I am now on Jaunty with 2.6.28-11 kernel, and
Network Manager is still slow to reconnect after suspend/resume. If I
understand correctly, this problem only affects those who have upgraded
from Hardy to Intrepid without a full install?

Latest development version of the linuxwacom driver (0.8.3-2) fixes this
