Confirmed in Hardy x86_64 running on an 8800GT using the restricted
driver installed using the driver manager. Blue/green skin hues in VLC,
mplayer, and Totem. Everything worked fine in 7.10, so I removed the
driver and installed the 169.12 x86_64 driver from nVidia's site and now
things are back
Is this a new bug that was not an issue in other Ubuntu releases?

you have another monitor to try and see if it is a monitor issue? Or

started. At some point, apt-get started listing some cups packages as no
longer needed. I tried to install cups (I don't know when it was removed
- I never removed it intentionally.) The installation fails.
