You are clearly stating a different problem. People here can connect
but lose the connection. As for now the "best" information gained is
that it possibly has something to do with the use frequency and the
networks in your neighbourhood that are desturbing it. If you can't

I could come into the previous comments. At home I never had a problem,
when at my student dorm I frequently lose the connection except when
almost no other networks are available...

Just recovered my computer from the same problem. The bug is NOT in the

should use for the moment the opensource driver. The following is a

I think it is a very bad idea to add the notification icons to the high

added to the gnome set or it should be the task of the icon designers to
make sure their icon set has the appropriate icons...

First of all, since you say your card is old you probably shouldn't use
the effects when you want a fast desktop. Second, consider if you need
all the services (SYSTEM -> CONFIGURATION -> SERVICES) and uncheck those
not needed. You could also check what thing start up when you start your
session.
Isn't this a duplicate of the #331383 bug?
Otherwise try this to solve it, it makes symlinks in your icon set to
the human icons used for the notifications.

Sebastien is right, you should NOT move icons around. Instead make a
copy (cp command) or a symlink (ln command).
The following makes a symlink for all the icons.
"sudo ln -s /usr/share/icons/Human/scalable/status/notification-*.svg
/usr/share/notify-osd/icons/hicolor/scalable/status/"

I got the same problem and already tried with installing the backports. This is
