Yep, just upgraded a Thinkpad T30 (Radeon Mobility 7500) which had been
doing Xv just fine with (or without) compiz working. Now I just get a
green screen, even when I turn off desktop effects.

I was able to get the video to play again (instead of a big blue square)
when I switched from 16 bpp to 24 bpp. (3d accelration is disabled
because I only have 16MB of RAM).
And yeah, everything worked just fine in feisty (earlier today) on this

No, this is on a i386 install, and I have the "real" flash installed.
I found out that this particular error is very generic and just means
that the X server restarted for _some_ reason. That's why I attached the

I've been trying to figure out what the implications are for using the
"usefree" mount parameter.
Using the drive with some (which? Vista?) versions of Windows doesn't
update the filesystem's free_clusters, and Linux's vfat driver doesn't
know where the data is now written (if it is at all).

I upgraded to gutsy today and it hosed X on my Mac Mini. I was happy to
see the 6.7.194 package appear, but it has been of little help on my
PPC-based Mac Mini with a Dell 2000FP DVI-connected monitor.
I attempted a "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg", which appears to
correctly detect the monito
Interestingly, if I connect the same monitor via the Apple DVI-VGA
adapter using the monitor's D-SUB input, X _does_ start up OK (even
using the same ModeLine, AFAICT)

I found (today) in hardy that if I set Option "VideoKey" "0x01" in
xorg.conf, then the video displays properly in 16bpp.

With the change to gio, it appears that PDFs are no longer being reported with
mime-type application/pdf. Instead, I see this:
