Is it even safe to say that if a user upgraded to a -beta or -rc that
their system is "current"? I know that my testing machine was different
than a fresh "complete" 7.10 installation. Ie: Fast user switching in
the top gnome panel.

I was able to re-produce this error after updating my sources.list to
Intrepid repository. Attempting to launch update manager produced this
error. I'll gladly attach additional information upon request.
