I don't have a same configuration, but LTS on 5 machines (two DELL
laptops, one very old DELL workstation, one recent HP Z820 and a desktop
which is hard to describe), out of them, only on a single one (the last
desktop) the problem manifests itself.

I have disabled compiz and occassionally see these problems, i.e. for example

So it's not compiz's fault

Oh, forgot to add: no Unity with me.
It must be driver+kernel's fault.

I confirm this, update from the previous release (clean install).
Workaround is to unplug and plug the affected usb mouse again, which is then
detected.
Actually, googling reveals this affects quite a lot of people. I believe it's
not very pleasant surprise for a usual user.

Similar issue here. I'm fairly sure I saw different errors, i.e. not
only nvidia.
After the below example, it's dead. It always concerns IRQ's. I enclose
some examples from a rich gallery I have in /var/log.

I'm unable to ssh to my machine because it's desktop computer and when I
use it I do not have physical access to any other machine (I will be

I'm experiencing it after an upgrade to the latest LTS (from previous

Btw. I did not experience it on the previous LTS, which shipped with
2.6.x kernel. This feature arrived with kernel from the latest LTS.
Please search for kernel panics in kern.log.
This is almost certainly a kernel bug, not browser, not X (although this

I confirm.

I did a previous-LTS to current-LTS upgrade. Prior to that it worked.

I will add: not always it seems to be caused by nvidia. But always
concerns irq's. Most certainly a flawed driver.

Can we make that an official fix?

Btw, as for the (WIRED!) mouse, the difference is with these modules in

So I guess it's not hid_logitech_dj's cause...
