I have Toshiba Tecra S-433 and When i go to shut down tab and press HIBERNATE
or STANDBY botton nothing happen .

@oriol thank you for your comment, it perfectly worked for me. all I did
was:
$ sudo apt-get install network-manager-pptp-gnome
then when opening the new VPN wizard the pptp option showed up.

In my case, according to MySQL error logs, it was just an access error
caused by apparmor which solved by editing appropriate apparmor file.
