I was able to build the module with the attached patch. My kernel then
oops when I modprobe snd_hda_intel.
My system:

I fixed the problem setting
/apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/number_of_desktops to the current
number of desktop I have. It is has value of 1 I still have 8 desktops
but the workspace switcher applet use only the top half of its height.
After setting number_of_desktops to 8 the applet uses its

Well, the first symptom I got is that gedit is unable to run.

The problem is gone after reverting gvfs back to 1.3.1-0ubuntu2 from
1.3.2-0ubuntu1 so I'm doubt now who the culprit is.
How can I link this bug to package gvfs?

I removed my ~/.local/share/mime because of bug #444962. After
$ mkdir -p ~/.local/share/mime/packages
$ update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime
the problem persists.

I'm running kernel 3.2.0-5 64-bit on an Aspire 5930G, and I'm still
getting this.

I can confirm the bug is present in 3.3-rc1 and ec.c patch solves the
problem. I'm running patched 3.3-rc1 now and haven't had any problem,
current uptime is 8 days suspending/resuming on a daily basis.
