You should not manually list the dependency on libaries in debian/control, but
instead use dpkg-shlibdeps and have it fill automatically through
${shlibs:Depends}. This way a simple rebuild would be enough to have an
installable package.

well, you're talking about updating the package from a version present
in a ppa, you can see how that can't really be supported.
in your case just uninstall the python-path.py package you installed
from whatever ppa; that package is not following the Debian's Python
Policy regarding the naming of

This feels a lot like something's wrong with your system; there is no real way
a package can cause (or fix) a similar error by itself.
Did you perhaps interrupted some upgrade in the past (by removing power, for
example)?
Can you just try to `apt-get install --reinstall mythes-en-us` ?
