This is now fixed, at list by the last upload where I updated the Standard-Version to 3.9.5. With this revision packages could relay on a dpkg trigger which integrates the changes to /usr/share/mime/packages. See the Debian policy section 9.7: https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-opersys.
