#12 is incorrect. AFAICS, this is actually a libvte bug and all libvte-
based terminals suffer from this issue on my 12.04 machine. I've used
gnome-terminal, terminator, sakura, and I think evilvte and lilyterm as
well.
FWIW, I haven't yet tried 12.10.

this is not a bug in terminator, gnome-terminal, etc. It's a bug in
libvte. On my 12.04 box, I have libvte-2.90-9 (1:0.32.1-0ubuntu1).
Perhaps that has been updated in 12.10, I don't know.
Note, though, that this is an intermitt
I'm unhappy with this being marked invalid. Clearly it may be an
interaction with the nvidia driver, but clearly it's still a bug. Is it
Ubuntu's policy not to track bugs in which proprietary drivers are
involved? Is there no other place this bug should be filed?

might find it helpful... I have two workstations at work, one with a

occurs with the 8600. As verification, I got irritated and swapped video

Thanks. A reboot worked for me. I'm not sure if a reboot was strictly
necessary, or just a restart of the X server. If it happens again I'll
start with bouncing X to see if that's enough to fix it. (I don't recall
whether the X server typically restarts on logout, I think not.)

Same thing happened to me today, exactly as in the above screenshot.
Were you able to fine any fix or workaround? It's obviously unusable in
its current state...
