Trying to reproduce this with the pptp plugin, but I can't reproduce the
issue... I will still try with openvpn though.
To be sure, do you have resolvconf running at the time you set the
connection? The comments in your resolv.conf indicate you might. You can
verify this by checking if /etc/resolv

provide a fallback for wired through wireless. Perhaps the issue is rather
more that your wifi connection gets the default route, which should not be

Well, seems like this may actually be an issue with the partitioning
scheme, as there is a "Not enough free swap" message in syslog (and I
finally could see the message once on another netbook). Marking as

Good point, I also feel it might not be. The way I initially thought of
it was that there might be something different in the environment with
which wget in chroot is being run, as opposed to how busybox's wget is
being run -- something like a library that is not available yet, etc.

I develop several web sites on my laptop, and each one
Marking as Triaged/Medium, I'm pretty sure this is the standard issue
where you can't use the PPTP vpn on some types of connections. I'll try
to find the upstream bug for that.
