The problem is still occuring on the OfficeJet 6500. The printout is
shifted to the top of the paper if the margin is small sometimes a part
of the page is missing. It happens with any printed pdf from evince. I
do not know if it affects also other pdf viewers like acrobat or other

With deleted xorg.conf.d directory no difference can be seen. That is
the Xorg.0.log file is the same (apart from the times).

Just want to mention that the "problem" still exists (Ubuntu precise +
gnome 3). I'm using QWERTZ (on my laptop built in keyboard) and QUERTY
on my english keyboard which I prefer for programming.

This did it! That is the 2nd option. I did not try the other option.
Nevertheless I suggest to leave the bug open. The clickpad should be
recognised automatically. Ideally also usable values should be preset.
Alternatively a tool to adjust the values would be nice.

I stumbled over this because I compiled lmsensors by myself but wanted
to use the provided init script. I changed the PROGRAM variable to the
alternative location and expected that it works.
If I set an variable then I expect that it is used. So its not a bug in
