I have confirmed this on two computers.
And you don't even have to have selected a new language. If you open
Language Support and do not choose a new language, and press O.K
(instead of cancel), you are prompted for administrator password, and
cannot escape it unless you actual know the password.

I cannot my self reproduce the bug in 8.04. When I edit menu items
through Alacarte they get renamed just fine. Does this happens to only
SOME of your menu items or is it all of your menu items in different
categories??

typed worng password (did not even try to log in before I saw the load).
I have no idea what could have triggered the massive (90+%) load.

I have this problem as well.
Using "pasuspender -- /usr/bin/gtk-recordMyDesktop" as suggested removes
the error alright, but also sound, unfortunately.
So this is really not a solution if you need to record sound as I do.
recordMyDesktop works fine for me until I start Virtualbox and a VM.
