start-stop-daemon -p $PIDFILE --stop --retry TERM/3 --oknodo || status=$?
the || results in status only begin set when its non-0 -> log_end_msg exists
with status 1 -> script "fails" -> update "fails".

I had this issue but it seems to be working now. Current version of
gnome-screensaver: 2.27.0-0ubuntu3. I do not know which version fixed
the issue, as I disabled automatic screen locking as a temporary
workaround.

I've had this problem with Feisty and it is still present in Gutsy. I
can even hear my hard disk park at the end of the shutdown sequence, but
the computer doesn't actually turn off.

Looking through the notify-osd source, it seems this is an
*enhancement*, identified with PLACEMENT_NEW in the source, and set in
bubble_new() with no way of changing it. How is having bubbles appear in
the middle of nowhere an improvement?

This Bug is *still* present in Ubuntu Lucid (mpd 0.15.4-1ubuntu3).
@Fabián: The recommendation is problematic, as it will allow remote
users to control your mpd. Do *NOT* set your bind_to_address to "any"
unless you know what you are doing.
