I connected to eduroam using a Raring live cd without selecting a CA.
Maybe the system ca setting means that it tries your system CA
certificates? In that case this bug only applies to certificates used
that are not in your system, e.g. self signed ones.

without solving the problem for me with my Lenovo X230t:
