I am regularly updating the OS on this netbook, right now it has the latest
2.6.31-20 generic kernel and I have not seen suspend or resume failures anymore.

I was trying to reproduce this in Lucid and this is how far I got.
Apparently Xephyr does not support -kb anymore, so I used this command:
Xephyr :2 -host-cursor -screen 800x480x16 -dpi 96 -ac -keybd
evdev,,device=/dev/input/event4,xkbrules=xorg,xkbmodel=evdev,xkblayout=fi
then I got:

The laptop did not suspend, so I selected reboot from the menu. The new
boot process got stuck after fsck, so I pressed the power key briefy.
There was a quite normal looking shutdown and a now successful reboot.
