initial situation: Ubuntu 16.04 with 7 Package updates en 7 security updates

After clean boot Ubuntu suggests to update to 16.04.2 with do-release-upgrade
from sudo-user I did
sudo update
sudo do-release-update
during release update Ubuntu asked me to use the new file for release-updat
I have this issue now too
I first installed freeradius with sudo apt-get install freeradius
Then i found out this is actually an old version (2.2 instead of latest 3.x)
So I uninstalled freeradius with sudo apt-get remove freeradius and it
unistalled version 2.2
I then manually installed version 3

2 days ago a ran general update from notification.
After I restarted suddenly my External Monitor connected through DisplayPort
did not post. Only the LVDS-1 internal screen. xrandr says DP-1 doesn't exist

Good question, I really do not recall. I could try reinstalling a clean
22.04 if that would help Troubleshooting. My home dir is on a separate
drive anyways.

I started from a 22.04 LTS install, in the beginning 24.04 worked fine, now it
doesn't
In the meantime I've tried overwriting with a fresh install disk but that also
didn't help. The difference might be between 22.04 packages and 24.04 packages.
