A couple of things:
1. Please download http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh, open a
terminal, and run the script using "bash ./alsa-info.sh"
2. Open /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf in an editor using the sudo
command, and go to the end of the file. On a new line, at the following:
"options snd
You cannot have mdadm and dmraid co-exist, unless the mdadm partitions
and the dmraid array are on separate drives. YOu can only have one or
the other.
So if you have WIndows sitting on fakeraid/dmraid array, you install
Ubuntu using the laternate CD, and when it asks for you to activate the
SATA
I don't think that option is applicable to any generation of MacBook
Air.

Ok, I just upgraded, rebooted myself, and had no sound. Its nothing to
do with the audio packages themselves, as they have not been updated in
days. Its to do with permissions, so I think its policykit or consolekit
thats at fault.

Pete, in alsamixer, do you have anything labeled beep anywhere? From
your amixer output, you have a beep generator, but I am wondering
whether it has a mixer control associated with it. If not, we will have
to find out how to turn it off via other means.

With latest jaunty on a PowerPC machine, I made sure I had openoffice
.org-java-common installed, and was successful in going to OpenOffice
help, choosing the find tab, and searching for terms. I searched for
spreadsheet, and accessibility, both of which returned results.

powerpc kernel? This will likely pop up on cdimage.ubuntu.com/ports in
the next couple of days. Please don't use the most current one, since
there is a kernel mismatch between d-i and the kernel packages on the
CD.

The no kernel modules found message is because there is a newer kernel
on the disk than what d-i knows about. Once new daily CD images get
built, this will pick up a new d-i image, and hense work properly.
As to the first problem, I am not sure what that could be, reht
efilesystem.

Antti, this workaround doesn't appear to work for me, I still get
several flickers with several attempts, and then dropped at failsafe,
this is with a G550 card.

Sorry, I actually included this patch in a pulseaudio upload a few weeks
back, I'm sorry I didn't see this bug before then.
As it is, I am in regular contact with the Mandriva Pulseaudio
maintainer, and we regularly exchange bits and pieces that are
pulseaudio related.
